How to change settings of RC500 on PhoneMDM
To change the settings of the RC500 in PhoneMDM, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Click on the Settings option available for the added RC500 router in PhoneMDM to be redirected to the RC500 router's settings page.
- On the Settings page, you will find four different categories: Apps, Network, Wireless, and System.
- In the Apps category on the settings page, you will find four sub-categories: Global DNS, WAN Failover, Port Forwarding, and Advanced DNS.
- In the Global DNS section, there are two DNS options available: DNS1 and DNS2. Here, you can edit the DNS settings for your router.
- In the WAN section, you will find the following four categories:
Primary Internet: Here, you can select whether your primary internet connection will be through WAN or Cellular.
Failover Connection (Secondary Connection): This setting allows you to configure a secondary connection that activates if your primary internet connection fails.
Primary Ping: You can adjust the primary ping settings to troubleshoot connectivity, reachability, and name resolution.
Failover Ping: This setting enables you to configure the failover ping, which monitors the connectivity of the network's primary internet source.
Check Interval: You can also customize the check interval, which determines the frequency of monitoring checks executed.
In the Advanced DNS settings, there are two switches available:
- Rebind Protection
- Rebind Localhost
These switches are used to enable or disable the respective features.
- In the Network category of the settings page, you will find the following sub-categories: LAN, WAN, Cellular, Static Lease, and Switch.
1. In the LAN section, you will find the following four categories:
LAN IP: In the LAN IP section, you can manually configure the IP address.
DHCP start: In the DHCP Start section, you can specify the starting IP address for the DHCP range.
DHCP end: In the DHCP End section, you can specify the ending IP address for the DHCP range.In
2. In the WAN category there is a single option, Enable, which is used to activate the WAN.
3. In the Cellular section, you will find the following four categories:
APN: we can edit the APN address which is used to connect mobile devices to a cellular network by specifying the gateway between the carrier's network and the internet.
SIM PIN1: You can enter the SIM PIN in the SIM PIN1 field, which is required to access the SIM card and enable its functionalities.
SIM PIN2: you can also enter the SIM PIN in SIM PIN2 which is used to access additional SIM card functionalities, such as specific security settings and operations.
Enable roaming: The Enable Roaming switch allows you to activate or deactivate roaming services on your device.
4. In the Static lease you can manually assign a specific IP address to a device on the network to ensure it consistently receives the same IP address. This process involves filling out three radio buttons: Host name, Host local IP, and Host MAC ID to add the user to the static lease list.
5. In the Switch section, you can activate or deactivate the preferred LAN ports using switches provided for each of the 4 LAN ports.
- In the Wireless section, sub-categories include Radio-1, Radio-2, MacFiltering, and Guest Network for configuring wireless network settings.
1. Radio-1: pertains to the configuration settings for the first wireless radio interface operating at 2.4GHz on the device. Here, you can customize the SSID, control the number of clients allowed on the network, select the channel, authentication mode, encryption type, and set the password.
2. Radio-2: refers to the configuration settings for the second wireless radio interface on the device, typically operating at a different frequency band (e.g., 5GHz), where you can customize SSID, manage client access, select channels, configure authentication modes, encryption settings, and set passwords.
3. Mac filtering: allows you to control access to your network by specifying which devices (identified by their MAC addresses) are allowed or denied access. You can configure this feature to enhance network security and manage device connectivity based on unique MAC addresses.
4. Guest Network: This provides a separate network for visitors or temporary users, allowing them to access the internet while isolating them from your main network. This feature enhances security by limiting access to local resources and can be configured with its own SSID, password, and access settings,
In the System Settings category, there are two sub-categories: Local Web Page and Reboot.
1. Local Web Page: The Local Web Page option allows you to configure settings for accessing the device's management interface via a local web browser, In the Local Web Page settings, you can modify the username and password.
2. Reboot: The Reboot option allows you to restart the device to apply new settings or resolve operational issues, In the Reboot settings, there is a single switch, Reboot RC after every config push, which can be enabled or disabled.
